SLOW DYNAMIC VINYASA FLOW INFUSED WITH QI GONG
These classes, infused with practices from the ancient art of Qi Gong, will show you how to link conscious breath with movement, to open the body and increase flexibility. Some postures will be held mindfully with a focus on the balance between effort and ease to build strength. we will incorporate Pranayama (breath work), sitting in stillness and always finish with a relaxation to calm and restore body and mind.
BEGINNERS FLOW - THE FUNDAMENTALS
Here we will learn the fundamentals of yoga - conscious breathing linked to movement, safe alignment in the different postures, which we will build on as we practice, and learning to sit in stillness. You will be encouraged to move at your own pace, modifying as you go to honour and respect the needs of your body.
A LITTLE ABOUT QI GONG....
Like yoga, qigong uses deep breathing, meditation, and static or dynamic movements to promote greater health and vitality. The actions generate and revitalize the qi, or life force, in the body. As an energy-based practice, qigong employs slow, circular movements that improve the flow of qi through the body’s meridians and organs. In contrast, Yoga āsana places greater emphasis on linear extensions of the spine, body and limbs. This works to tone, lengthen and strengthen muscles more directly. When aspects of qigong are incorporated into an āsana practice, the flow of prana and qi can be significantly increased, bringing greater energy, health and efficiency to the body.

I'm a Southampton yoga instructor teaching slow dynamic flow classes infused with the ancient energy-based practices of Qi Gong. My own practice began twenty years ago when I came to yoga to heal a back injury. Since then it has become a way of life and one which I love to share with others!
